YOUTH taking part in the Youth Market are taking their products, goods and services up to the next level.
The Youth Market has always provided a venue for young entrepreneurs to sell their products. Recently,four Youth Market participants were given an opening to sell their products at the Ports area during the arrival of the “Dawn Princess”.
This opportunity was given by the Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau and has boosted the confidence level in these promising young entrepreneurs to sell their products to s variety of customers.
“We will be bringing out our new creations at the Youth Market and hope to get more customers and orders,” Zanina of Kasini stall said.
The Kazini make local jewellery products at reasonable prices, and they will also be part taking in the Youth Market.
For some young people, meeting the demands is yet to be achieved.
“Participating in the Youth Market has helped my business to grow more, demands are high to the point that sometimes we just can’t keep up with the demand,” said a young Youth Market stall holder, Joy Fono of RJF Rasta Empire.
She will also be participating in this month’s Youth Market.
As the stall holders prepare for the 7th Youth Market, the young musicians and dancer are also preparing to display their skills on stage.
The theme for this Youth Market is “Peaceful Youth, Happy Isles” the dance and acoustic song competition will be based on the theme.
September’s Youth Market schedule will have a song competition starting today, a dance competition tomorrow and Special stage performances from our famous local artists on Saturday. X- Axe (former members of Small axe), Jah Boy and Dezine.
Youth@Work is implemented by SPC with the Ministry of Women, Youth, Children and Family Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Labor and Immigration and the Ministry of National Unity, Reconciliation and Peace. It is fully funded by the Australian Aid bilateral program and is an initiative designed to tackle youth unemployment in the Solomon Islands.
