A YOUTH had sustained a broken leg in a car accident in Honiara, Thursday this week.
Honiara police said they were unable to verify the accident since it was not reported to them on time.
However, Solomon star understand, the accident happened when a parked taxi car accidentally rolled downhill from the ridge above Lawson Tama.
Owner of the vehicle told Solomon star that he attended the scene of the accident when his cab driver informed him by phone that he had an accident.
The cab owner said his car rolled downhill when one of the five youths who hired his taxi service accidentally ignited the key of the parked vehicle and got the engine started.
He said the vehicle at the time was parked on the top of the ridge when the youths sat outside near it while they consumed their alcoholic drinks.
He said since the reverse gear was on, the vehicle moved backward and rolled down hill. He in the cause of panic the youth jumped out of the vehicle just in time before it rolled off.
He said the vehicle rolled over one member of the youths who sustained a fractured bone on his injured leg.
The National Referral Hospital confirmed the injured youth had been treated at the emergency ward following the accident.
The cab owner said his driver and the other four youths in the party escaped injury.
