Dear Editor – Your story in yesterday’s edition of the Solomon Star once more highlighted the encouraging work of Youth@Work and focused on the achievement of Mary Osiabu from Choiseul who, after completing the ‘Young Entrepreneurs Program conducted by the aid organization, was able to set up her own business in making and selling doormats.
Mary is to be praised on her initiative and wished success in her business.
The story concerning Mary related some important words by Gerea Lepping, the ILO ‘Start Your Business,’ Trainer which are highly relevant in today’s Solomon Islands and worth repeating as being visionary.
“I would like to see all youths having motivation and passion for whatever business plans they have and do it to their best to sustain themselves at the end of the day.
“Anyone can become a good business person, you only need the driving force to move into starting your own business, be committed and have support from your families.
“Just don’t give in to whatever circumstances you face, make use of the talent and skills you have.”
Mr Lepping’s advice is timely and with the aid of people like him and the support of Youth@Work many more young people should be able to become successful business people.
Congratulations to all concerned!
