The local youth empowerment group, Youth@Work (Y@W), will launch its partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Honiara.
Youth@Work (Y@W) and United Nation Peace Building Fund (UNPBF) through UNDP and UN Women SI have entered into a partnership that will benefit 100 marginalized youth in settlements in Honiara.
This partnership aims to improve long term economic prospects of youth and help them become peace advocators in their communities.
As part of this partnership, young people will learn peacebuilding concepts and techniques to be peace advocates in their communities and undergo business trainings to help them identify business needs in their communities, build a business a plan. At the end of the training they will receive seed grants to get their new business ideas off the ground.
Invited guests include representatives from UNDP, Y@W, Ministry of Women, Youth, Children & Family Affairs, Ministry of National Unity, Peace and Reconciliation and the Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Labor and Immigration the participants of this initiative.
The Permanent Secretary (Acting) of the Ministry of Women, Youth, Children and Family Affairs will give the key note address.
This event will mark the commencement of this Peace Building and Entrepreneurship initiative, which will bring together partners, donors, stakeholders and the beneficiaries.
