Dear Editor – Please allow me a space to share my experience and comments on issues affecting our youths today.
The government of Solomon Islands should see and be aware that almost every year the country sees more students leaving school due to lack of space in the high school. This is especially at forms 3, 5 and 6.
This leads to more jobless youths roaming our streets and communities.
If the problem is not resolved it would lead to crisis and social disorder in the future.
Today we are seeing many social problems as a result of jobless youths.
Therefore, in order to reduce some of these failures, the government should establish more schools, vocational schools and tertiary training institute such as Solomon Islands National University.
Not only that but government should open up for more investment into the country.
Our landowning groups should also open up their lands and resources for development.
This is to allow those who left tertiary education to find and benefit from jobs.
If we prepare well for our students and graduates they will be able to succeed and progress well in life.
Its a great mistake if our parents, teachers and government don’t bother to support youths and address some of the issues raised here.
The role of a parent at home is also important in terms of nurturing our young children and youths today.
This is so that when they grow up they can make well informed decisions and face less problems..
The more we play our role as heads, the better we can see that our country will develop into a peace-loving, united and harmonious nation that will provide a better and happy place for all to live.
God save Solomon Islands.
