EDUCATION is the key to development in any countries in the world.
That was according to the Taiwanese ambassador to Solomon Islands Mr Victor Te-Sun Yu.
He was speaking to the 12 recipients who will be leaving frothier studies in Taiwan two weeks’ time.
“In any country in the world, only education is the key to development,” he said.
“Taiwan is a small province in China with lots of big mountains but due to education, we were able to develop it.”
He added: “In Solomon Islands, you have a lot of available resources more than Taiwan but the point is you have little in education to utilize those resources into money and development.
“This is your turn recipients, go there, advance your knowledge, come back and do something for nation.
“I know that Taiwan has many interesting things to surprise you there but remember, be serious with what you are going there for.
“All we want is you to go there and do something that your parents, nation and you will be proud off at the end of the day,” the ambassador told the students.
One recipient spoke to, said that indeed; it’s a blessing to him to be awarded with this scholarship.
“I believe, after doing my studies there, I will be someone in my family and the nation at large,” Mr Steneth Akutu said.
“I would like to thank the government of Solomon Islands for working together with the government of Taiwan to offer these scholarships that 12 of us around the country will be go for,” Mr Akutu stated.
“Thank you Taiwan for such opportunities,” he added.
